These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Lazy Lion Matcha mobile application ("App"), operated by Boldfinch HB ("we", "us", or "our"). The App is distributed on the US Apple App Store and US Google Play.

If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, your use of the App software is also subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple EULA"). These Terms supplement the Apple EULA and address matters specific to Lazy Lion Matcha. They do not replace the Apple EULA. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Apple EULA regarding the software license, the Apple EULA controls.

If you downloaded the App from Google Play, your use of the App is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. These Terms address matters specific to Lazy Lion Matcha and do not replace Google Play's terms.

By downloading or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. About the App

Lazy Lion Matcha is a mobile application that generates and saves matcha brewing recipes. The App is distributed on the US Apple App Store and US Google Play. All recipe generation and naming happens entirely on-device. The App is provided for personal, non-commercial use only. No account registration is required to use the App.

The App is currently free to download and use. We do not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions at this time. Access to the App may be supported by advertisements as described in Section 5.

2. Use of the App

2.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you may use the App only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

2.2 Children's Use

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly provide the App to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using the App, please contact us at info@boldfinch.net.

2.3 Permitted Use

You may use the App solely for lawful, personal purposes in accordance with these Terms.

2.4 Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any systems or networks connected to the App
  • Use the App in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations
  • Reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit the App or its content without our prior written consent
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App or its third-party services

3. Recipes and Content

Recipes generated by the App are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. They are not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. We make no warranty that any recipe will meet your taste preferences, dietary requirements, or health needs.

You are solely responsible for assessing the suitability of any recipe for your circumstances, including:

  • Allergies and dietary restrictions — check all ingredients and additives before use
  • Caffeine — matcha contains caffeine; use caution if you are sensitive to caffeine, pregnant, nursing, or have a medical condition affected by caffeine
  • Hot liquids — brewing involves hot water and carries a risk of burns; use appropriate equipment and care
  • Food safety — ensure ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled safely

Serving sizes, temperatures, and timings are estimates. Results may vary based on equipment, ingredients, and technique.

Recipes you create are automatically saved locally on your device. We have no access to your saved recipes and assume no responsibility for loss of locally stored data (e.g., due to device failure or App uninstallation). No recipe content is uploaded to our servers.

4. Sharing and User-Initiated Actions

The App may allow you to share recipe content with other apps or people through your device's share sheet. Sharing is entirely user-initiated. We do not receive shared content. You are responsible for what you share and with whom.

After you rate a recipe 1 to 5 stars for the first time, the App may present the platform's native in-app review prompt (Apple on iOS; Google Play on Android). Whether the prompt appears is controlled by the platform. Any review you submit to the App Store or Google Play is governed by that platform's terms and policies, not these Terms.

5. Advertisements

The App is free to use and may display interstitial advertisements served by Google AdMob as a condition of free access when you open a recipe instructions screen — including when generating a new recipe or opening a saved recipe from history or your recent recipes list. An ad notice is shown before each interstitial, when the daily ad gate applies. At most one interstitial advertisement is shown per calendar day on your device; additional recipe opens the same day proceed without an advertisement. If an ad fails to load, you may still access the recipe. We are not responsible for the content of advertisements displayed within the App.

6. Third-Party Services

The App integrates third-party services including Google AdMob (advertising), PostHog (analytics), and Sentry (crash reporting). These services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. By using the App, you acknowledge that these third-party services may collect certain data as described in our Privacy Policy (https://boldfinch.net/lazy-lion-matcha/privacy-policy).

We are not responsible for the practices, content, or reliability of any third-party services.

7. Intellectual Property

The App and all associated content, design, graphics, and software are the intellectual property of Boldfinch HB or its licensors. All rights are reserved. Your right to use the App software is governed by the Apple EULA when you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, or by Google Play's terms when you obtained the App from Google Play. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use the Lazy Lion Matcha name, logo, or branding without our prior written consent.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components
  • The App will meet your specific requirements
  • Any recipes, results, or content produced by the App will be accurate or suitable

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Boldfinch HB shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App — including but not limited to loss of data, personal injury, or property damage — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim. Because the App is currently free to download, this amount is zero.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud — or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Changes to the App and Terms

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App (or any part of it) at any time without notice.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document will reflect any changes. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users (for example, by updating the in-app link to these Terms or posting a notice on our website). Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the App and uninstall it.

If you are located in the EU/EEA, mandatory consumer protection laws may give you additional rights regarding changes to these Terms.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to discontinue the App at any time. Because the App does not require an account, we cannot individually terminate your access; however, if you violate these Terms, you must stop using the App. Uninstalling the App ends your use under these Terms.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sweden.

If you are located in the EU/EEA, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence, including the right to bring a claim before local courts or alternative dispute resolution bodies.

13. General Provisions

13.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy (https://boldfinch.net/lazy-lion-matcha/privacy-policy) and, where applicable, the Apple EULA or Google Play Terms of Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and Boldfinch HB regarding the App.

13.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

13.3 No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

13.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms without restriction.

13.5 Language

These Terms are written in English. If these Terms are translated into another language, the English version prevails to the extent permitted by applicable law.
